The Lodge at Wah

After four days at the lodge, I felt my lungs had recovered from the smog. The air in Himachal Pradesh was easy to breathe, unlike in many Indian cities. There are plenty of outings nearby, and the lodge can arrange excursions and drivers. I enjoyed sitting on the benches among the tea plantations, visiting the museum, and tasting around 20 kinds of tea. This was the loveliest place I stayed during my five weeks in India. The long drive from Amritsar was worth it. The lodge is set in the middle of a tea plantation, with a large, leafy garden for relaxing. The staff were the friendliest I met in India, attentive and welcoming from the start. The spacious, stylish room had a beautiful bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Heated duvets meant that, even in January, I wasn't cold here, unlike at my other accommodations. There was a bonfire every evening, and staff sat and chatted with us, so I didn't feel alone as a solo traveler. The food was amazing, different each day, delicious, and served in huge portions. The transfer from the airport near Dharamsala went smoothly. Staying here gave me a different view of India, and I'm glad I got to see this part of the country. Even months after our visit, we still talk about The Lodge at Wah as a family and find ourselves wanting to go back. The hosts were generous and so warm, happy to go above and beyond for guests' comfort. The rooms, walks, food, service, and homely atmosphere all made the stay memorable. Birdsong and lovely mountain views were what we woke up to at this beautiful property surrounded by nature. The stay was very comfortable, the food had a good variety and tasted great, and the warm, friendly hosts made the whole experience worthwhile.

I'd definitely recommend a stay at Wah the lodge. Surya & Upasana are vibrant, lovely hosts, and being surrounded by nature was so restorative. The soulful food and chats by the bonfire made for a rejuvenating stay. Best wishes to the team.
