The lake was a real highlight, much less commercial than nearby Bhimtal, with boating, zip-lining, and clear water where you can see fish several feet below. We hiked the jungle trail down to the lake too, about thirty minutes each way, with several stunning views of the peaks along the way. We were seven family members staying in three cottages at Nest and Hives for three days. Each cottage was spotless and spacious, with a natural breeze running between two private decks: one looked over the shimmering nine-cornered lake, the other toward a beautiful mountain range. Some of the most spectacular room views I’ve seen anywhere. The microwave, fridge, and tea and coffee station were thoughtful touches, but the team made the stay. Bishan ji was superlative and genuinely caring, Arjun ji (Manager) ran things warmly and efficiently, and Akshay and Pramod were reliably helpful. Chef Harishchand’s food was a surprise, from Kumaoni fare and Chinese dishes to homemade gulab jamuns so soft they melt on your tongue. A complete experience, and unreservedly recommended.

The location is a bit out of the way, but it’s very peaceful, so I recommend coming in your own vehicle. Our suite was spacious and cozy for winter, with amazing views from the room. Service was excellent. Special thanks to Hemu ji for his hospitality and home-style cooking.

Mr. Bishan and Mr. Hemu worked incredibly hard to make us feel at home and made our stay top notch. The lake views are insane, and the property is a must-stay if you want peace of mind and five-star service. The stay was excellent.

The views and food at Nest and Hives are the best. I’ve stayed there twice, and there couldn’t be a better place for me in Naukuchiatal. It’s become my weekend getaway.

We had a really bad night here, with terrible service. This is the worst place I’ve ever seen. If you’re thinking of booking a room, don’t. There are other hotels and homestays, so check those out and enjoy your trip. Don’t let your night turn out as badly as ours.
