Oak Shade Hotel

The rooms were very dirty and the washrooms were awful. I had a terrible experience, and wouldn't give it even one star. The people were arrogant and, in my view, dishonest. They took the full payment in advance, then cancelled my booking through booking.com so I couldn't post a review there.

The rooms are cute, and there's a lake view from the shared balcony. In winter, though, quilts and blankets are all they provide, and there are no geysers. Staff can bring a bucket of hot water, while hot water from the taps is available only between 7 and 10 in the morning. I can't say anything about the food. Maybe things are better in summer.

The staff were lovely, from the receptionist to the rest of the hotel management. The toilet's jet tap was a problem, and there was no room heater, so a winter visit could leave you freezing. I don't think that would be an issue in summer, though.

I had to get through the night somehow because the room smelled so bad. It was tiny, very dirty, and the linen was torn and unclean. The bathroom was so untidy my kids didn't want to bathe. The TV didn't work, and there was no geyser or anything else. Even the staff weren't very helpful. There was no parking, and you couldn't even unload luggage in front of the hotel. You can't tell from the online listing how dirty it is, and a hotel like this shouldn't be listed there. Even if facilities are limited, the place should at least be clean. This was my worst stay so far, and I'd definitely say no to this hotel.
