OYO 1820 Hotel Prim Rose

The service at Prim Rose Hotel was slow and poorly coordinated. Front desk staff seemed indifferent at check-in, and getting extra towels took three follow-up calls and over an hour. Dining service was disorganized too, with food arriving lukewarm. The staff seemed to lack training. The bathroom had loose fixtures, a broken commode seat lid and barely any shower pressure. In the room, the musty smell lingered, the furniture looked worn and dated, bed linens had faint stains, and the curtains felt dusty. Cleanliness and maintenance were disappointing throughout. For this price, I expected basic comfort and hospitality. With rooms in this condition and such unresponsive service, I can’t recommend staying until they make a major operational overhaul. There are better value options nearby.

The rooms, parking and location were good, but there was no Wi-Fi or mobile signal in the rooms, and the front desk people were rude. The rooms cost unreasonably much. We booked anyway because nearby hotels were unavailable or had poor rooms. I might stay here again, not because I liked it, but because tourists don’t spend much time in their hotels.

The location was a big problem for us. This hotel is about 1 far from Mall Road, Nainital Lake and Bada Bazaar, uphill on a very steep road. It’s inconvenient for families and not suitable for elderly people. We had to replace four heaters during our three-day stay because none worked properly. Hot water was available in the morning and sometimes at night, but not when we needed it. The washrooms were already dirty when we arrived, and repeated calls to reception didn’t help. There’s no Wi-Fi in the rooms despite what they claim, and tea came without milk. Room service was poor, the manager was extremely rude, and the staff acted just as unprofessionally. They seemed focused only on getting paid, not on guest comfort. This was one of my worst hotel experiences. I strongly recommend avoiding it, there are much better and more convenient options near the lake.

The rooms are good and have a lake view, especially in the higher categories, and the hotel is large with plenty of parking. But it needs renovation, the furniture, linen and walls are old. Management can be uncooperative. I’m a travel agent and they seem less interested in bookings from agents, preferring online sales. I’ve stayed three times with my family and sent many clients, yet they sometimes don’t recognize me or respond. Because of that, I’ve had to move bookings to nearby hotels.
