The Green Lodge

The food was a highlight for us, especially the homemade Kumaoni dishes like pahadi dal, local sabzis, gahat ki dal, and mandua roti. Breakfast also had fresh fruit, parathas, and eggs, and the staff happily adjusted meals for us. At Experto The Greens, also known as The Green Lodge, in Bhalyuti, Jeolikote, the cottages sit in a lush valley about 18 km before Nainital. Fruit trees, organic vegetable patches, mountain views, birdsong, crisp air, and a gentle stream made the surroundings feel wonderfully peaceful. We found it a great base for day trips to Nainital, Bhimtal, Sattal, Naukuchiatal, Pangot bird sanctuary, Mukteshwar, and Kainchi Dham. Our room was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, with large windows looking over the hills. The bed was comfortable, hot water was available on demand, and there was a flat-screen TV. The garden, terrace, shared lounge, and small fitness area were well maintained and felt eco-friendly. The owners and staff were warm, attentive, and treated us like family. They could arrange bonfires, suggest nearby trails, or simply chat over tea. It was peaceful and restorative, good for couples, families, or solo travelers. We felt the location, food, and service were excellent value. We left refreshed and hope to return.

The staff were warm and helpful, happy to arrange a bonfire on chilly evenings, suggest walks, or talk about local life. It felt like staying with extended family, and the price felt hard to beat for the views, food, and hospitality. I left refreshed and want to return with friends. After a hectic year, I wanted somewhere quiet before heading into busy Nainital. I found Experto The Greens, also called The Green Lodge, in Bhalyuti, Jeolikote, about 18 km before Nainital on the way up from Kathgodam. The scenic drive and little detour into the valley near Krishi Vigyan Kendra led to a green setting with fruit trees, including lychee and peach, organic vegetable patches, and misty hills. The air felt fresh, with birdsong and no traffic noise. Jeolikote seemed like a lovely quiet alternative to the crowded main spots. My room was spotless and spacious, with big windows framing the hills. The bed was comfy, hot water reliable even in the winter hills, and the place felt homely. Meals were homemade and fresh: pahadi dal, local sabzis, gahat ki churkani, and mandua roti, which I asked for seconds of every time. Breakfast came with garden fruit, parathas, and eggs. The staff made adjustments happily. It wasn't fancy, just hearty, flavorful home-style food. It's a handy base for trips to Bhimtal, Sattal, Pangot bird sanctuary, and Kainchi Dham. If you're after quiet in the Kumaon hills, this place is highly recommended.

We stayed for nearly 17 days and had some of the best service all around. Fantastic experience, and I'd recommend it 100% to families too.

We spent two days here with my family and felt at home. The owner mam and all the staff were courteous, helpful, and welcoming. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with mountain views to enjoy over morning tea, birdsong, and a lovely garden for walks. The food was delicious and customized to our preferences, at a very reasonable price. It really feels like a second home in the mountains. Must visit.
