The rooms were very clean and the property well maintained, but for the price we paid the stay needs improvement. Breakfast was average, and parking is on the roadside outside the property. We booked through MakeMyTrip, and the voucher said indoor and outdoor sports were complimentary, including cycling. The hotel staff said cycling was chargeable and billed us ₹500 + tax per cycle for one hour. MakeMyTrip refunded us after we raised the issue. About 30 minutes before checkout, while we were asking staff to prepare the bills, we went to the common area to take a few pictures with our DSLR camera. Within 5-10 minutes, a staff member told us camera use wasn't allowed and would cost extra. That was disappointing since we'd been taking photos freely, as had other guests, and no one had mentioned such a rule. We'd picked a palace stay at a premium price to enjoy the ambience and take some memories home. We felt management was a bit more focused on money than guests.

The storytelling session was a lovely, memorable part of the experience. The team were kind, warm, and attentive, and the servers made lunch and dinner more enjoyable with how friendly they were. Both meals were delightful, especially the flavorful variety of chutneys. The banana leaf lunch set was delicious and filling, and they let you have as many refills as you want. The service really stood out.

Cozy seating and courteous staff added to the meal. The Lotus Chettinad has a warm atmosphere, with traditional Chettinad décor blended with modern elegance, and the aroma of spices sets the mood. The food offers an authentic taste of Tamil Nadu's culinary heritage. Chettinad Chicken Curry, Pepper Mutton, and Kuzhi Paniyaram were full of southern flavor, with a good balance of spice and texture. A refined but homely place to try genuine Chettinad cuisine.

The staff made us feel comfortable throughout, and the food was excellent. Breakfast was especially good, and paniyaram was my favorite. We had a wonderful time exploring Chettinad. The total cost felt high, though. We had to use their transport service, which wasn't priced competitively with standard options, and a more affordable alternative would have helped. The extra bed charges also seemed steep.

We stopped for lunch and didn't stay overnight. The service and catering were excellent, and the atmosphere was lovely. It was nice to see one of the old large houses restored so tastefully and put to use.
