Hotel Shanti Palace

Breakfast was the best part: fresh fruit, amazing chai, and poori and omelettes made fresh when I asked. The hotel is on a busy main road, so the location makes getting around easy. It costs more, though that's typical for Delhi. Some furniture and facilities are older but looked maintained. My room was decent, not spotless, and the bedsheets seemed like they hadn't been changed, with some fuzz and an unpleasant smell. The bathroom was generally clean, and the bathtub was fine for a short stay. There's a small, rather hidden gym with two treadmills and some dumbbells, enough for a quick workout. Reception staff were polite and helpful. The person I'd read was rude came across as straightforward rather than unkind, though a smile would've made the experience nicer.

After I paid the full amount in advance at Hotel Shanti Palace, the receptionist's attitude turned hostile. They spoke loudly and in a condescending, derogatory way to me and my companions. They also flatly refused to let my guests come in or even sit briefly. If they'd explained that politely, I might have understood, but the tone was insulting. I had to book space at the neighboring hotel so I could hold our meeting and treat my guests with basic dignity. It felt as if once they had the money, they no longer cared about showing basic courtesy. A place that treats paying guests with such disrespect and has so little etiquette doesn't deserve your business. I strongly advise staying away.

My stay at Hotel Shanti Palace in Mahipalpur was absolutely wonderful. It's a great choice near Delhi Airport, with a convenient, comfortable stay in New Delhi.

Good hotel, and the housekeeping service is excellent. Krishan Resham and Suman do a very good job with housekeeping.
