Oyo 29101 Umrah Castle

The location was poor, right next to a rubbish tip, and the smell was disgusting, though the area itself is good. Dogs were locked in the courtyard every night and howled, and the hotel was noisy day and night. The night staff were really just the day staff staying there. They were hard to approach, and sometimes slept in shared areas, on the floor, on the sitting room sofas, or on top of the kitchen dining table. The place was filthy throughout, and the bedding was old and marked. The mattress had lots of stains and a bad smell. The manager and security guard smoked inside the building, and the parking didn't feel secure. Most staff were very unprofessional, scruffy, and had poor personal hygiene. The cleaners didn't know how to clean properly, and we had to ask for our room to be cleaned or nobody would come. There was no Wi-Fi, and the breakfast was inedible. We tried it twice, and both mornings had to wait until after 9 because staff were asleep or absent. The AC was noisy and not industry standard. We had a power cut every night but one, with no backup lighting and no staff available to help. The hotel went completely dark. If there'd been a fire, it could have been a death trap. Umrah Castle shouldn't be allowed to operate as a hotel. We regret trusting the positive reviews, which don't fairly represent it. The 5/5 ratings and room photos seem manufactured. There are zero standards here.
