YMCA Tourist Hostel

What stood out most was the staff, who were helpful, polite, and welcoming throughout my stay. YMCA Tourist Hotel is also very conveniently placed: Jantar Mantar is a 3-minute walk away, Connaught Place (CP) is about 10 minutes on foot, and Shivaji Stadium station is the closest metro. The location next to the Home Ministry office feels absolutely safe and secure. The building is old but well maintained, with a heritage feel. Its position near government offices means political party workers stay here too, which is part of the local character. The restaurant food can be better. It's a safe, interesting base for exploring Delhi if location and attentive service matter more to you than modern amenities and gourmet dining.

I checked in this morning and was given room 458, where the TV isn't working. The support and technical staff tried what they could but couldn't fix it. I've asked to change rooms for more than three hours, and it still hasn't been changed. None of the intercom numbers listed, like 148, 241, or 147, connect from this room, so I've had to keep calling from my mobile since morning.

The price is reasonable, and the location is great, close to central New Delhi while still feeling very safe. Most buildings nearby are government offices. This is a hostel with various activities. The rooms are clean and adequate rather than luxurious, with a private bathroom, toiletries, towels (one per guest), thermostat, closet, and double bed. Reception is open 24 hours and the staff were helpful. Breakfast was included, but our plans meant we didn't have time to eat it.

Getting around from YMCA Tourist Hostel is easy, with local transport readily available, and it's right in the heart of New Delhi. The rooms and basic facilities were decent, though the stay itself felt average. Breakfast needs better quality and more variety; better food service would make the experience much stronger. It's an okay option if location is your main priority, but the services could improve.
