After the Rains

The tricky part was finding the place. Google Maps sent us down a very narrow road that didn't even reach it, and we might have been lost without the on-site team's directions and help. I hope the route gets fixed. I liked the rooms and the service. Meals follow a daily set menu, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices, and the food is local. If you like local cuisine and enjoy being surprised by what's served, that could be a real plus. I prefer choosing what and when I eat on holiday, so the set menu took away some of that freedom. My impression was good, though whether I'd return depends on the company and reason. I might go back for around two nights, but probably not a longer stay.

The last 200-300 meters are on an off-road track, so drive and navigate carefully. A low-clearance car such as a sedan needs to go slowly. In Google Maps, switching off the “fuel-efficient route” setting may help avoid even less suitable roads. I spent a refreshing weekend at After the Rains, in the middle of a green plantation with beautiful views all around. Misty mornings and sunrise and sunset above the canopy were a highlight. The plantation walk gave us a closer feel for the natural surroundings. Staff were warm and helpful throughout. I also liked the care they take with meals. They prepare food fresh instead of laying out a large buffet that could create waste. The recipes used locally sourced vegetables and were delicious, and the coffee from their own estate was distinctive and really good. It felt like a peaceful place that lives in harmony with nature.

We had a lovely December stay. The rooms were clean and spacious with a great view, and the food was amazing. The staff were attentive without hovering, and there were several activities. Arjun's Resort Nature Walk was the best one. The last 5-7 minutes on the approach road are a little difficult, but manageable. One suggestion for the owner: please add credit and debit card payment at checkout for dining expenses. That feels like a basic need these days.

We really don't want to leave. It's such a relaxing place, with plenty of space to explore, a swimming pool, and gorgeous wildlife. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and the food is great. Even the little extras, like hand soap, body wash, and shampoo, were there. The location is amazing.
