The Surya Village Resort by OYO Rooms

For my first trip to Ooty, this place made for a really great stay. It’s right in the heart of town, with scenic hill views. The room had a good feel to it and was clean, neat, and well maintained. Service was top notch, and the food impressed us too, apart from breakfast, where the choices were limited.

We spent two nights here with family. The staff were courteous and the service was good, and the rooms were clean. The buffet breakfast was mediocre. For the price, the surroundings and the building don’t offer the facilities you’d expect. It feels more like a room in a hotel, though they charge resort rates, so the location and setup didn’t seem worth what we paid.

We spent three nights here, and the staff’s enthusiasm really impressed us. The room was spacious, neat, and clean, and the food was hygienic. The restaurant staff were very helpful. If I return to Ooty, I’ll stay here again.

The view was the one good thing, and the service was decent. The rooms were subpar, though, with brown water coming down from the roof, and a broken health faucet that made a mess. The website says heaters and kettles are available, which is only partly true. There are heaters, but they cost an extra 500 rupees, and there was no kettle. The food wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t the best either.
