Casa Tropicana - Villa Caroline

The restaurant food was very good and served in excellent condition. It's a beautiful, well-known beach destination in Goa for family trips, and the parking lot is good for functions. Staff behaved well and were helpful with anything we needed.

Our friend arranged our stay for January 5 and 6, and those two days were very nice. We then decided to extend for another night, January 7, and confirmed by phone with Mr Brian, the owner. We agreed on the cost and went sightseeing, leaving all our belongings inside. When we returned around 7 pm, the whole bungalow was shut and locked. The caretakers said the owner had taken the keys and that we should go to their office, about a 10-minute walk away. When we got there and said how disappointed we were, the manager, Mr Subash, was very rude. He smelled of alcohol from a distance and physically threatened us, saying we should have paid first. Mr Brian was just as rude on the phone, wouldn't speak with us properly, and blamed us for causing a nuisance. The place itself is good, but the owner and manager seem to lack basic hospitality. If payment had to be made first, they only had to ask. They shouldn't have locked us out with our belongings inside. Please be careful with this management, as you could risk being treated badly.

The rooms are fairly large, but the property is inconvenient if you don't have your own transport. It's basically a bungalow converted into a hotel, tucked away on a quiet side street in Dona Paula, in the middle of nowhere.

The venue itself is beautiful, and the staff at Villa Caroline are hospitable. The problem is the Casa Tropicana administrators, Mr Subhash and Mr Bryan. They were the worst people I've encountered in hospitality. If there were a rating below half a star, that would fit this place because of its horrendous, unethical, ill-mannered management. Mr Subhash threw tantrums, showed off his ego and attitude, verbally abused us, and physically threatened us. In his defence, he was drunk and reeking of alcohol, so he may not have known what he was doing. Mr Bryan seemed to believe whatever his staff told him and ignored our side. We were treated terribly by the administration. Avoid this place unless you want to be locked out of your room at night with all your luggage still inside. To Casa Tropicana's management, please communicate clearly with guests. If you don't understand hospitality, don't work in the service industry. Those specific people at Casa Tropicana gave us the most nightmarishly memorable night of our lives. We won't forget it.
