Purity Guest House

There’s no nearby connectivity, no proper road, and it’s far from the city. The approach is scary, and this doesn’t feel like a safe place to stay. There’s no auto, cab, or other transport here, so you have to rent a bike or car. Make sure you return before dusk or you might get lost. The bathroom was pathetic, with no soap, towels, drinking water, food, or anything. It’s just you on your own, so bring everything you need and carry your luggage all the way to the top.

We had a peaceful stay in nature, with all its beautiful sounds, and the owner was very nice. Their family has cats, hens, and dogs, so staying on the property is a unique experience. It’s a secluded guesthouse, away from the bustle of human habitat, but easy to find on Google Maps. If you stay here, it’s best to rent a scooty in Pondy or Auroville for getting in and out.

If you’re after a secluded place in Auroville with greenery and away from noise and pollution, this is good value for money. The property is nice, and the owner is reachable at all times. The rooms and washrooms are very standard, village-like, with cement floors and all. The main drawback is poor access from Pondicherry, and autos and such aren’t available. The owner can provide a scooty, which solves that. We had trouble getting to and from Pondicherry for the bus at check-in and check-out, when we didn’t have one.

The lady owner patiently guided me by phone until I arrived, which helped a lot. At first I was reluctant to go in, but I checked out with a smile. The rooms were neat and hygienic, and you can enjoy nature’s beauty here. It’s very near to Matru Mandir. The route felt scary at night, especially since I was driving with my family and there’s no proper road to the guest house. By morning it was calm and beautiful.
