Shenbaga Hotel & Convention Center

I was really disappointed with the hall at the convention centre. The food arrived cold in tiny servings, and although it was called an unlimited buffet, it wasn’t. They didn’t refill it, so guests were left hungry on a special day. Hospitality was almost nonexistent, and the AC in the groom’s room didn’t work. I complained the next day but got no proper response or refund. They wouldn’t even give us the leftover food. Think twice before booking. It wasn’t worth it.

We used to come about once a year, but hadn’t been back for four years. It used to be a clean, well-kept place and a very good stay. This time, though, the upkeep was poor: none of the four phones in our suite worked, and the complimentary soap, shampoo and lotion were below standard. The food’s taste and quality had also fallen since our earlier visits. Given how much the stay costs, it didn’t feel like value for money. The hotel no longer meets the standard it once did, which made this visit disappointing.

Dinner service was top class, and the dessert was especially tasty. The buffet has a huge spread, with continental food as well as North and South Indian dishes. I particularly loved the chicken biryani and curry. The location on MG road is convenient too.

The terrace has a lovely view, especially in the evening just before sunset. The hotel is right on the main road, and the beach area with lots of eateries is less than 2 km away. Our room was spacious and clean, with a bed big enough for two to sleep comfortably. I liked the mattress, which wasn’t too firm, though the pillows felt too high to me. Breakfast had decent choices, but I didn’t find any of it tasty, so I wasn’t keen on the buffet.
