We were travelling back to Pondicherry on a weekend and hadn't booked a hotel in advance. Most places were full, so I used Booking.com, which showed this resort as available. I booked it and went to the location shown in the app, on the email, and on Google Maps. There was no resort there. The contact number kept coming up busy, and nobody answered. It was already 11 PM, with the tourist spots in Pondicherry mostly closed by around 10:30. A few people tried to guide us, but we were still lost, so we went to the police station. The police helped us find the place and escorted us there. The station in-charge warned us that it was isolated, that criminal activity happened in the area, and that we should watch our belongings. The resort's gate was shut when we arrived, and no one came to open it. We called the number posted there; about ten minutes later, a man let us in. We stayed the night, but the sheets and pillow covers weren't very clean. The receptionist, who was at their other hotel, called to say they hadn't received payment from Booking.com. I had paid, but the server had been down and there was no payment notification. I checked my card statement and tried calling Booking.com without getting help. I realized there may have been a card server issue while I was travelling, and told the receptionist, Mr. Shiva, I would pay again and asked him to return any duplicate payment. Instead of listening, Mr. Shiva called me a cheater. I paid again and left. They have two hotels, one in the city and this resort on the outskirts. The location is wrong on the platforms, so guests may end up roaming around. If you cancel, they refund only 50 percent. There was no proper contact number, and the receptionist was rude, abusive, and threatening. We were told by police that the isolated area has criminal activity, so I wouldn't go there at night with women or if you're not local. The owners seem indifferent. They also have just opened the place, and I don't think it makes any difference to them. On all platforms, the wrong location means guests can't find it, and they may be charged 50 percent if they cancel. The hotel has no proper contact number. The receptionist was rude and nearly threatened and abused us. I don't think it's safe for tourists and outsiders, given the isolated location and what police told us. If you haven't booked ahead in Pondicherry, hotels can be hard to find on weekends, but don't risk your money and safety here. There are two hotels, and the other location is the city hotel. The resort location has been entered incorrectly, which makes it hard to visit them.
