Hotel De Pebbles

We stayed two days. The rooms are compact, but clean and functional, and the staff were helpful. The hotel has its own restaurant with tasty food, though you need to order 30 mins ahead. Its location near Haddo jetty and Chatham island, and 4 kms from the airport, made getting around easy.

Our room had a broken window, with another building so close that someone could easily get in from outside. That felt like a serious safety issue, and we were very disappointed as a couple. Within 15 minutes of checking in, we asked for a different room or a repair. Even though we'd arrived early, the owner refused both and arrogantly said we could stay there or leave. We contacted TripAdvisor, and were told the hotel agreed to fix the window. Two hours later, the owner again told us to leave instead of sorting it out. We also saw him treat other guests rudely, including senior citizens who politely asked for early check-in. He spoke arrogantly in Tamil to a Maharashtrian family, making the situation uncomfortable and disrespectful. With that behavior and so little concern for guest safety, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Changing hotels at the last moment is very difficult.

The rooms were good and clean, and the staff were polite and courteous. The food was really tasty, but breakfast needs work. Without a buffet, some items are often unavailable and service can take a long time, which is inconvenient. A nice place to stay overall, with breakfast service needing improvement.

We really enjoyed our stay in De Pebbles. The food was awesome and tasty from breakfast through dinner, and it arrived quickly. Rooms were clean and fresh, with a vibrant, positive feel throughout. The manager was friendly and upbeat, and clearly worked hard with a smile.
