Hotel Orchard Pune

The windows were broken, the bathrooms were dirty, and the rooms had fungus on the sheets, cupboards, and all over. Cockroaches were roaming around, and even the staff couldn’t get the room keys to work. We cancelled the stay, and the manager yelled at us and was very rude. It felt extremely unsafe, almost like a haunted hotel. The service was very poor and the room quality extremely bad. I’d give less than one star if I could. I wouldn’t recommend it at all. I’m writing to Google to ask for a zero rating, or even a negative one.

The toilet flush barely worked, the basin tap was very loose, and there was no soap or shampoo holder in the shower, so I had to put them on the floor. I stayed for two nights, 14-16 nov 2025, and had a terrible time. I’d booked at Rs 3750/- per night online in advance, but paid Rs. 9000/- for the two nights in the end. The reception staff member, who said his name was Akash, was arrogant and rude. When I asked for his manager’s name, he said that was Akash too, though I’m not sure that was his real name. I had to rush to a 10am meeting, but check-in was at 12noon. He charged an extra Rs 1500 for taking a shower and leaving my bags. The room I was given was available and unoccupied, though I understand if rooms are full. At first, the desk person also demanded extra payment without accounting for the roughly Rs.900 I’d paid online in advance. He said that was different when I questioned it, which I didn’t understand, but eventually deducted the advance. He also demanded full payment for both days upfront at check-in. I usually don’t mind that if required, but his attitude made me hesitate. I gave him my driving licence for ID, and he copied it but didn’t return the original until I checked two days later. I nearly forgot it in the rush to the airport and had to stop and ask for it just before getting into my cab. I believe keeping it may have been intentional, perhaps some scam to misuse the original, so be careful to take it back immediately. I asked locally about other hotels and found many good ones nearby on Apte road. I’ll never stay here again. I also took a picture of the guy who misbehaved at check-in and check-out.

The rooms were clean and well maintained, and the food was great. Hygiene was good throughout, including in the dining area, and the staff were attentive and cooperative. With the new management, all the earlier complaints are gone. Hotel Orchard offers a good mix of comfort and location.

The service wasn’t bad, but it lacked warmth. For what we paid, the rooms should have cost at least one-third as much. They were very old and dirty, looked as though they hadn’t been cleaned, and the beds didn’t look clean or washed either. The location was the only thing I liked.
