The Ambassador Hotel

I’m here tonight and feel stuck, since my corporate schedule is busy and I may not be able to change hotels. There’s no Wi-Fi for work, and the restaurant staff talk to us as if we’re begging. They don’t even seem willing to be polite. My work takes me on trips all the time, and I’ve never seen this kind of behavior. I feel sorry for the owner, who may not know what’s going on. Shame.

A simple water request took about 30 minutes. There was no update to explain the wait and no apology when the bottle arrived. The hotel didn’t seem especially busy, which left me wondering about its coordination and service management. Even if something is delayed, a little communication would help. The room service staff I dealt with came across as abrupt and uninterested. Basic requests seemed to be treated as an inconvenience, and even routine conversations felt uncomfortable. That lack of courtesy, together with the slow delivery, made the service disappointing. Room service is part of guests’ comfort, and this experience affected my stay. Hospitality depends on how people are treated as much as on facilities. I hope management takes the feedback seriously, with better staff training, clearer procedures, and closer supervision.

The breakfast buffet is basic and practical, but after more than two nights it would get repetitive. There was also an unusual smell in the dining area that bothered me. I booked a Suite because the other options weren’t available. It’s certainly spacious, though this is an old property that seems not to have been upgraded in a long time. The interiors feel very 80s, room doors use old-fashioned cylindrical key locks, and the bathroom fixtures are leaky and stained with salt marks on the glass and faucets. It’s still a decent value and could work if other places are outside your budget. The location is brilliant, but the hotel is squandering its potential. A full update to the interiors would add a lot of charm.

I usually book this place for work trips to Pune. The in-house restaurant is handy for guests travelling for work, and the rooftop is lovely in the evenings. The rooms are quite nice compared with other hotels nearby, and the staff are humble, supportive, and ready to help with whatever we needed. Simply wonderful, highly recommended.
