Hotel Deepak

The room drawer had cigarette butts, ash, dirt, and rubbish in it when we found it that evening. It was obvious the room hadn’t been cleaned before we were given it. Even after we complained, staff didn’t clean it right away. We had to remind them two or three times the next day before they finally did. That showed no concern for hygiene or guests. I attached a photo so people can see the condition. There was no proper shower, and basic items like shampoo and soap weren’t provided. The geyser and TV didn’t work either. Whenever we reported them, staff made excuses that they’d be fixed soon, but nothing was ever repaired. Charging people for this feels like a scam. Deepak Hotel, Puri had no standards, cleanliness, or respect for paying customers, and I regret staying there. The Google prices shown online for the whole area are misleading, in my view. Normal hotels that cost ₹1200-₹1300 are shown as ₹6000, making this place seem like a cheap option to tourists. I found that extremely deceptive. It seems like much of the footfall comes from auto drivers bringing guests for a 30% commission, often while misleading tourists or giving them fake information. It makes the place crowded, noisy, and uncomfortable. Even its 1.9-star Google rating feels generous. Honestly, it deserves 0 stars. I suggest travelers don’t rely on auto drivers and instead walk around Puri beach themselves. There are much better hotels under ₹1500 with proper facilities.

There was a constant cigarette smell, tobacco stains everywhere, and water kept dripping. The washroom doors had mushrooms on them, the room key didn’t work, the AC was broken, and the power kept cutting out. I hated the stay. I went with my mother and father, and it was a nightmare. Staff behavior was awful. At checkout, they asked for a tip, and then started snatching bags from my father’s shoulder. I complained to the person at reception, but he said he wasn’t the manager. I managed somehow, but I have a lot more bad things I could say about this place. Don’t go here. If negative ratings were possible, I’d give it -100000000000.

Cockroaches were all over the rooms, and the hotel is far from both the temple and Puri’s good beaches. The manager was rigid and rude, making an already bad place worse. I felt cheated for not checking the reviews beforehand. If there were a lower rating, I’d give it.

I was there for just one day, and the place completely ruined my stay. There were bedbugs in the unclean room, and the washroom tap didn’t work. The receptionist was rude and unprofessional. The power was out for almost four hours that day, and there was no water during that time. I’d never recommend this hotel. Avoid it.
