OYO 4685 Baikuntha Palace

I’m a regular customer now, partly because the manager is very polite and well mannered. It’s the best in its segment for a family stay on a budget, and there’s a good restaurant in the basement too. The hotel is ₹80/- away from Jagannath temple and about 150mtr along a straight road from Sea Beach.

The room was dirty and unclean, and so was the bedcover. There was no housekeeping, and management didn’t seem to care despite my repeated complaints. The service was most 3rd class.

The location is the one good thing: close to the beach and not too far from Jagannath Temple. But I had a bad stay, and a 3-star hotel like this needs a lot of work. The hospitality was poor, and the AC didn’t work properly. There’s no balcony, so having to go up to the terrace to dry clothes was a hassle. The elevator didn’t work either, and fixing it should be a priority, especially with aged people around. Food was unavailable most of the time. Staff and maintenance were poor, and I had to ask for towels, handwash, and other basics. They may have been running the business a long time, but the service should match the charges. Interior 2/5, staff 2.5/5, services 2/5.

We had a wonderful stay, and if we return to puri, I’d definitely like to stay at baikuntha palace again. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, with attached balconies where you can dry clothes after a sea bath. Cleaning staff were prompt and very good. Mr. Das, the manager, was helpful and cooperative, always ready to help with a smile. Everyone was friendly and polite. Another 10 star for the service and kind behaviour. Thank you.
