MAYFAIR Rourkela

The staff were friendly, service was prompt, and the room dining we tried was amazing and delicious. Still, this place didn't feel relaxing to me, and next time I want to try their newer property near the hockey stadium. We arrived after a long trip and were given a room next to the construction, which we didn't like. Thankfully, they moved us farther away, though I wish they'd done that before I complained. Construction is underway, so depending on your room there may be noise and lots of dust, with workers using the same stairs. There are no elevators, and higher floors mean plenty of stairs. The hotel is also very close to the railway tracks, so you can hear train horns all night.

The food still has a good range of choices and is good, and the ambience is pleasant and comfortable. But service has become the biggest disappointment. I've visited Rourkela once a year, and Mayfair restaurant has long been a regular stop for me. Over the years, the wait has gone from slow to painfully sluggish. Even simple orders can take hours, and the staff seem indifferent, as if long waits are just normal. The decline is more noticeable each time. Slow service overshadows the food and setting, and Mayfair Rourkela needs to improve restaurant service to match its food and reputation.

The food is marvelous, and the heritage building is well maintained. Some rooms get occasional noise from a railway track nearby, so Lobby Manager Jyoti helped us switch rooms quickly. I appreciate the prompt change. All the best.

Mayfair Rourkela is conveniently located, and I had a comfortable two-night stay in a clean, well-appointed room. Compared with many other properties under the same brand, this one may feel less opulently furnished or decorated. The service quality is still exceptional and on par with Mayfair standards.
