Hotel Ghanerao Castle Ranakpur

The food was the one real highlight, it was awesome, and the kitchen team gave excellent service. The rooms, though, were very dirty. We switched rooms three times because of electricity and then water issues, and the staff seemed untrained, with hardly anyone available. It’s a heritage property, but that shouldn’t mean poor cleanliness. I’d booked two nights for 23.10.25, then cut the stay down to just one night. They need to improve cleanliness and basic things like electricity and water.

There were four bats just outside the door of the second room we were given, with droppings all around. The first room had an AC that didn’t work. There was also pigeon mess left uncleaned around the balconies. This place could be a great stay if it were kept clean and properly maintained.

The calm, relaxing feel of the place comes with attentive service from the host and staff, who are particular about looking after guests. Set on the edge of ghanerao village, the castle seems to look out over it. They’ve preserved its old character with only minimal updates for guest comfort, and the carefully arranged spaces feel royal throughout. Kudos!

The heritage look is fantastic, and the food was really, really good. We spent one night here, and the rooms were clean compared with other hotels in the country. I’d recommend it.
