I stayed 2 nights at M crown, in Room 329. The location is great, right in the centre of Shillong, and the rooms are a good size and clean. The food tasted good, and service was okay. They made food on request for our kid. Breakfast starts at 7.30, which is late if your taxi driver and hotel staff are telling you to leave by 7.30 to avoid traffic. You either eat and leave late or head out without breakfast. There’s hot water, but you have to leave the tap running for 10 minutes. Toiletries were only provided when requested, there was no hand towel in the bathroom, and the washroom smelled a bit, possibly because the exhaust wasn’t working.

The location is very good, but the service is poor. Water bottles cost extra, towels aren’t provided, and there’s no dental kit or other bath items. I highly recommend not choosing this hotel unless you have no other option.

The WhatsApp number shown in the first picture is a scam, and the website is too. This scam is happening now in Shillong, with M Crown the latest victim along with its customers. Be aware and book through online mode. I shared the hotel’s business card so people can confirm directly with the hotel.

The rooms were neat and clean, and the hotel is right in the city and main market. That central spot can slow you down if you’re travelling to places around the city. Breakfast was only okay. I was surprised they wouldn’t provide ice or soda when ordered.

The property is clean and hygienic, and the staff are very polite. Service at 9 Olives (restaurant) isn’t up to the mark because they’re short staffed, but special mention to Evangeline. She’s very courteous and gives excellent service.
