Windermere Hotel

The atmosphere was welcoming for families, and the food was delightful. I also appreciated the ample parking, which made things easier. The rooms were well kept, and my stay there was quite pleasant.

The staff were amazing and their service was excellent, so we’ll definitely visit again. My son thoroughly enjoyed the well-maintained swimming pool and kids’ play area. The resort is in a beautiful location, but the rooms were just ok-ish. We had a balcony, though there was no good view from it, just a roof covered with sheets. I’d rather they didn’t give us a balcony at all. The buffet selection was very limited. One thing they could improve is the directions. The booking email sent us to Windermere hotel by default. It’s on the same campus, but after unloading all our luggage, finding out we had to drive to the other side of the property was frustrating.

The hotel is a bit farther from the city, which was one reason we chose it. The place is one of the nicest hotels in town, and the staff were polite and always helpful. The food was much better than I expected. We stayed four days without any complaints, and I’m planning to come back soon. We didn’t manage to visit the heated swimming pool. The complimentary breakfast buffet was lavish, with 20 items each time. The in-house restaurant was perhaps one of the best in Shillong. The food was always delicious and filling.

The views from this place were incredible, and the rooms were spacious with good food and quick, friendly service. We only found it because our driver suggested it after our plans changed at the last minute. We wished we could have stayed longer. We also saw preparations for a wedding, and the property looked beautiful for it. The one real difficulty was that the lifts weren't working, which was hard with our elderly parents. Apart from that, we had no problems and would happily recommend staying here in Shillong.
