Clarkes hotel, A grand heritage hotel since 1898

The restaurant has a nice view, and the food was delicious. The hotel gives off heritage vibes as soon as you walk in, and the location is perfect. Rooms are good, though without central heating you have to warm them with electric heaters. Parking is limited, and there are long stairs between the parking area and the hotel.

Rooms and the hotel are fully carpeted, and the staff are polite and always ready to help. The breakfast buffet is very good. It’s a calm, lovely old heritage-style property, located right on the mall road with good views of shimla. The rooms are a bit expensive for their size.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this fabulous heritage hotel. The staff and management deserve thanks for their care. Everyone was trained to a high standard, with such attentive, caring service that it was almost overwhelming. They helped me sort out my mobile phone, suggested places to explore in Shimla and the Mall Road, advised us on taxi prices, and brought hot water bottles at night. They also carried our luggage up several flights of stairs and greeted us with a lovely warm ginger/lemon drink. Breakfast was fantastic, with the usual buffet choices, fresh cafetiere coffee and attentive waiters. It was absolutely worth 750 rps plus tax. The cocktails in the bar were made perfectly.

The hotel’s old, but you wouldn’t know it from how well everything is cared for. The location is handy, right on Mall road near some nice cafes, and the ridge is a 5min walk away. Oberoi hotel came through on service as always. We ordered hot milk and it arrived in no time, and the reception, housekeeping and in room dining teams were all very courteous.
