Hotel Avon Villa

There was no cable TV because of some monkey mischief, and food options were very limited. You have to walk quite a way to reach the hotel since a taxi can't drop you there. The place was tidy, they provided water and a geyser 24 hours, and the staff were very kind.

BEWARE! SCAM ALERT! I booked this property for my visit to Shimla and arrived around 10 AM. I spoke with DP Pathania, who said the property no longer wanted to work with Oyo and wasn't accepting online reservations. I had booked through Agoda, so I contacted their customer support. They said that wasn't the case and would get in touch with the property right away. When Agoda called, the owner, Mr. DP Pathania, showed us some storerooms and said that because the price was low, that was all he could offer. His exact words were "Jitna gud daaloge utni hi mithas aayegi". We didn't like the rooms, so I called Agoda and asked to cancel the booking and find another place. When Agoda spoke to the owner, he lied about what happened and said we wanted to cancel because we didn't like the rooms. When we discussed it further, he offered better rooms at a higher price, but only if we booked directly with him. The new rooms he showed us also didn't match the pictures online. We'd traveled a long way to reach Manali, and the women with us were tired and sick, so we felt we had no choice but to check into those rooms. I trusted the owner when he said he'd help us get a full refund. We stayed one day. After we paid, he said he wanted us to pay him directly so Oyo wouldn't know and he could avoid paying taxes. We paid through UPI. He refused to give us an invoice or booking confirmation for the new rooms. I couldn't prove to Agoda that we'd booked additional rooms, and the owner told them we hadn't liked the rooms, which were actually storerooms, and the parking space. My refund was denied as a result. I understand much of this happened behind Oyo's back, and I believe the property is trying to scam both the customer and Oyo. I'm requesting a refund and an invoice or bill for the new rooms I booked. The owner's behavior was also very impolite and aggressive. Mr. DP Pathani threatened us multiple times, and the women with us were scared. I hope Oyo Rooms gives us proper support after this upsetting experience.

This place is a scam. It's far from Mall road and ISBT, and there aren't tourist spots nearby. Whenever you want to go anywhere, you have to hire a taxi or climb the hill to catch a bus. Don't trust the pictures on the OYO app, the actual property looks nothing like them. The staff's behavior was pathetic and felt preplanned. If you don't do what they want, they may misbehave. The strangest thing is that they keep your ID card when you check in, even if you've paid in full. The rooms aren't good or properly cleaned. The pillows and beds seem like they haven't been changed in ages. Even with two guests, they give you one towel and won't replace it unless you call. Even then, they make excuses. The food is average and expensive for the service. If you order food in your room, they serve it on paper plates with nothing extra, not even pickles. And when you check out, they take your phone and literally force you to give them five stars. If you resist, they misbehave and may even manhandle you. That's how they keep their ratings. It's a complete scam.

The view was nice, but the rooms were poorly maintained and the hotel is a long way from Mall Road. The pictures on OYO seem aimed at attracting bookings. The owner came across as greedy, wouldn't even let 10 rs go, and kept shouting at staff. Staff also asked us to leave a 5-star OYO rating, which makes me doubt the high score there. I'd avoid this unless there are no other options.
