Hotel Dalziel

We paid 4.2k for a spacious room on a weekday, then found a similar one beside us for 2.6k. We were there on a snowfall day, which made things worse. The drinking water didn’t feel clean, there was no heater or geyser, and the rooms were dirty. Coolies and agents push people toward this hotel, and if you get caught up with them, you’re certain to be scammed. Never trust agents for hotels like this. Better to avoid it.

It’s in a great location, but that’s about it. The room was just okay, and room service and facilities were zero. There were unnecessary excuses about everything, no professionalism, and no hot water supply in the washrooms.

We arrived in Shimla without a booking, which was a bad start, and a coolie practically pushed this hotel on us at ₹5k per night, calling it a “weekend rate.” They showed us three rooms: one smelled like a stray dog and another reeked of cigarettes. When we expected basic decency for that price, the staff just said, “Room freshener maar denge.” The rooms were tiny and suffocating, with low ceilings, no kettle and no mirror. They were nowhere near worth the price. Later we found the same room online for ₹2k, which explained why it had been pushed so aggressively. We ended up staying at a 5-star hotel for ₹4.5k a night, and it was clean, spacious and actually worth the price. One star is still too generous for this place.

We were three people and stayed for just one day last week. The room and washroom were very good and clean, and service was as good as we expected. The hotel has a restaurant and serves food in the room too. From Shimla Kali bari it’s nearly 500 m, while Mall is over 1 km away. The one thing we expected was a tea kit in every room.
