Hotel Silverine

The steep climb up from Hotel Silverine, Shimla is the main drawback, especially if you plan to walk out often. Otherwise, it’s a peaceful place with lovely views from every room, and the hotel and rooms are clean and well looked after. Parking is available too, which is rare for hotels on Mall Road. The terrace is a real plus, with swings and chairs where you can sit and take in the scenery. They can also arrange a bonfire, and guests can barbecue up there, making for nice evenings. A good spot if you’re happy to spend time relaxing at the hotel.

We were hungry and craving khichadi after the kitchen had closed at 10 PM, but the team still prepared some for us. The waiters were so kind, and the reception staff made us feel welcome too. The food was delicious, and the service and treatment were the best. Thanks, Silverine, for the lovely hospitality. 🤍

Getting to the hotel by car can be tough if you’re used to driving on flat roads. You really need experience with steep hills, so taking a local cab or driver is advisable. Once there, the rooms are clean, warm, and nice, with valley views as well as sunrise and sunset from the windows. The 24-hour hot water is useful in Shimla’s cold weather. Mall Road is close, just a stairway climb away. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a restaurant with room service for food. We found the prices a bit high, so we brought food from outside. The staff even helped by providing cutlery.

The location is easily the hotel’s strongest point. The rest of our four-night stay in the first week of April 2026 was a letdown, especially at over ₹5,000 per night. Our first room’s washroom kept leaking and smelled bad. We reported it, but the hotel was full and we waited nearly two days to move rooms. The second room was better, though by then the stay had already started badly. Management showed little empathy or initiative when we raised issues, and didn’t seem focused on guest satisfaction. Food was disappointing too. Breakfast had just 2-3 options and tasted average. Dinner came with our package, but it was so ordinary I skipped it one night. Basic toiletries were also missing. They supplied only shampoo and body gel, and both were poor quality. Apart from its location, the hotel missed most basic expectations. I wouldn’t recommend it unless hygiene, food taste, amenities, and customer service improve.
