Malnad Shire

We stayed in cottage 601, and the room was spacious, while the staff were consistently polite and ready to help. It's one of the better stays in Shivmogga, with a lot of potential. A few maintenance issues got in the way: corners could have been cleaner, the bathtub wasn't properly maintained and oddly had no tap, the TV crashed every five minutes, and Wi-Fi was weak. The ground floor balcony door also didn't lock properly, which felt like a security concern. Better upkeep would bring the experience in line with the property.

The food and service seemed a bit overpriced to me, and the food quality was pretty average in my experience. Still, the surroundings are really nice, and my stay at Malnad Shire was great overall. The support staff deserve appreciation, especially for handling questions and concerns professionally. Visiting at the beginning or end of mansoon would make it even more fun. One suggestion for the owner/s: expanding the kids playground area would benefit both customers and the business.

There’s a pool, gym, play area, spa and a well-kept restaurant, so it suits a relaxing break or a family stay. Breakfast was good and satisfying. The food is expensive, but the quality and taste make it worth the price. I booked Malnad Shire in Shivamogga through Agoda and got the best deal. Offline pricing can be quite high, so I'd recommend booking online ahead of time. It's also a convenient, comfortable place to stay near Sakrebyle Elephant Camp. A premium stay and a great choice for a relaxing getaway.

I visited Malnad Shire restaurant on 16th June for its good food, and left disappointed by the lack of accountability and the team's dismissive attitude. Security guards and staff directed me to park in the designated area they manage. I trusted them, but when I returned, my helmet had been stolen. Management responded unprofessionally and immediately disclaimed responsibility, saying that the parking area wasn't part of their premises, even though their staff had sent me to that exact spot. There are no signs warning customers that management takes no responsibility for belongings left with a vehicle. It's unacceptable to direct people to park somewhere, then claim helplessness when something goes wrong. If they won't take responsibility for guests' property, they shouldn't direct customers where to park. I won't return, and advise others to be extremely cautious if they choose to dine here.
