Anand Bagh Resort & Spa by Ananta

The next morning I realized there wasn’t a single towel or hand towel in the room, so I’ve changed my rating from 2 stars to 1. I paid ₹4,000 plus ₹1,000 for an upgrade, and this is what I got. The rooms were just about fine and the food looked decent, but both rooms I was shown smelled unbearably damp, enough to ruin the stay and make me write this straight away. The washroom was in shocking condition for a property with Ananta branding. All three toilet paper rolls had already been used, the toilet seat was broken, and the basin tap sprayed water everywhere. I soaked my t-shirt just trying to use it. The maintenance and quality control were terrible. A reasonably hygienic washroom could have saved this review, but Anand Bagh Resort by Ananta is dragging Ananta’s reputation down.

The room was dusty all over the floor when we arrived, and it was dirty and smelly enough that even our driver refused to stay in it. We had told them we were coming with a driver, but they first refused at check-in and only later gave us a room. The hotel didn’t feel anything like a spa resort. Newer, modern dharamshalas are cleaner and better value. Hygiene was a problem here.

I really enjoyed the food at Anand bagh resort, and every staff member was kind and helpful. It was a really nice place, and my stay there was worth it.

The location, open space for kids, and spacious rooms were all good. What wasn’t good was the reception staff’s unpleasant behavior. The water bottles in our room had fungus at the bottom. When we asked for replacements, they sent mineral water. We asked again the next day and were charged for it, with the explanation that only two bottles were included and glass bottles would have been free.
