OYO 850 Hotel River Palace

We stayed in a separate villa beside the pool, with four rooms, a kitchen, and a hall. The rooms were tidy, some were very large, and I liked the furniture. The bathrooms were clean and well kept, too. The building’s old character and furniture have been preserved, and it made for a quiet, pleasant stay. The narrow approach road gave me a moment of doubt, and the place isn’t as huge as some photos suggest, though it still felt nice. The river water wasn’t very clean, but you could unwind by the pool on the lawn or sit by the river with a hot coffee in the evening. Breakfast was good enough. We ate lunch and dinner elsewhere, so I can’t really comment on the rest of the food.

The quiet neighborhood and the lovely mattresses were the best parts for me. The stay was decent, but the property didn’t live up to what I expected from its pictures. It seemed smaller and less beautifully rustic in person, and it’s hard to spot from the main road. The narrow road in could be a problem if you’re bringing a car. Families make up much of the crowd, so I wouldn’t recommend it for couples. Check-in is at 2 pm, but when I arrived early in the morning the receptionist was rude and unhelpful. The staff seemed unprofessional, and there weren’t any tissues in the bathroom.

For the price, we had an awesome stay. The resort looked just like the photos on its website and MakeMyTrip, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a good range of cuisines and food quality, and there was even the option of a candlelight dinner by Anjuna River. They also offer early check-in. The room, bathroom, and pool were clean. Four stars for affordability, food, and a great location.

The view and room layout seem to be the only things keeping this place going. Service was very poor, and the staff were bad. For non-vegetarians, it’s a nightmare. The sheets and blankets smelled musty and didn’t seem to have been washed. It caters to a particular crowd that likes a cheap vegetarian buffet and “snakes.” They also limit water to 1 litre per room each day. If you want more, it costs Rs 55 per litre. That’s ridiculous.
