Hotel OM

It was cold, around 15 degrees, so my family needed hot water during our weekend stay. There was none early in the morning. After waiting almost two hours, they arranged for us to use a separate bathroom in another room, but our room still had no water supply at all. The delay was so bad that we had to cancel our travel plan. One of the worst service experiences on a family stay.

In Room No. 208 at Hotel Amber, the ceiling fan regulator was faulty and the fan ran very slowly. Since the room wasn't air-conditioned, that made it very uncomfortable. I told the staff, but they just said the fan would keep running slowly because the regulator was faulty. A terrible experience.

The room was fine and the lift worked. The hotel is good for location and rooms, though the bathroom taps weren't working properly and there's no restaurant service. Check-in was at 12 pm and checkout at 10 am, already a one hour difference, so I asked for an hour's late checkout as a gesture. The manager wasn't empathetic and wanted to charge me for a whole extra day.

Rooms are alright for a one-night stop in somnath, but they're small and lack basic hotel touches like glasses. The approach road is bad and adds about 10 minutes getting in or out, and the hotel isn't actually that close to somnath mandir, so plan accordingly. Breakfast was dismal: there's no restaurant, so they deliver it to the room, which is a strange setup. We ordered for 9, but it arrived at 10:15. The chai was cold, and the poha and paratha were dry. I would have preferred a lower rate without breakfast included.
