Aloka Residency

We spent two nights here after some hesitation, since there hadn't been reviews for a while. I messaged the owner on WhatsApp and got a good deal. The rooms are roomy, with balconies separated by large glass panels, and there are different sizes to suit different group sizes. It's about 1 km from town, so traffic wasn't an issue, and the city has the basic things you need. The owner and staff were friendly, knew about nearby places, and had useful contacts. Breakfast came with the stay. We liked the taste, though it could use a bit of improvement.

We hadn't expected much after making a last-minute booking, but the hosts were warm and carefully handled our requests. They also helped plan our itinerary and arranged transport so we could get around comfortably. The place was tidy and well cared for, and the food was really good. We had a pleasant stay and felt very well looked after.

We stayed with three other families and booked a penthouse, a suite, and a regular room. The penthouse became our shared hangout, with plenty of space, two bedrooms, and attached bathrooms with both a tub and a shower. The suite was fine, with a small walk-in closet and a shower bathroom, and the regular room was as expected. All the rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. Breakfast was included. The stay itself was excellent, but I'd skip ordering from the restaurant. The food was mediocre, and there are better choices if you're willing to drive 2-3 km.

The food at Aloka Residence tasted homemade and was really good, and the rooms were kept very hygienically with prompt service. What stood out most to me was meeting the owner, who's humble and grounded. That same warmth comes through in the stay they provide. A must-visit place in Coorg.
