I’m sharing this in case it helps families who need reliability and peace of mind when booking a guest house, especially with kids. I chose Jes Guest House, Majorda for its good reviews and the idea of staying with a local family, which seemed safer and more comfortable for a child than a hotel. Price wasn’t the reason. I first booked through Booking.com. About a week before the stay, I called the owner to tell him when we’d arrive. He suggested cancelling in the app and booking directly with him to avoid GST, so I agreed. Then at around 4:30 PM on arrival day, while we were already driving to Goa and about three hours away, he messaged rather than called to say another guest had lost his passport and extended by a week. He said he’d arranged another room near his guest house at the same price. That was extremely stressful, as I was travelling by car with a 5-year-old child. He refunded my advance and apologized, but the last-minute change caused major inconvenience. Last-minute bookings in Goa are expensive, and there’s rarely time to properly check reviews or suitability, especially when travelling with family.

The house is beautiful and cozy, and Majorda beach is only a 7-minute walk away. The host was very helpful when my mother needed ORS. I called him, and he quickly brought us a packet.

Dominik and his family were so friendly and helpful during our stay. The guest house is a short walk from quiet, beautiful Majorda Beach, with plenty of restaurants nearby and a bus stop for Panaji close by. The rooms were fine, though they could use a little improvement. Since it’s a family-run place, I understood that. We had a good time there and were happy with the stay.
