Om Shanti Patnem

We had a wonderful six nights at magical Patnem Beach and hope to return. The food was delicious and varied, so we ended up eating nearly all our meals there. Staff service was excellent, and the room was clean with a good bathroom. The downside was a musty smell in the room and mouldy pillows under clean pillowcases. The air conditioning wasn't very effective, though the fan was enough most of the time.

The garden room was a great choice, honestly better than the sea-view cottage. It felt like a little individual house among plants, with two comfy chairs and a table outside for evening chats. After the beach, there's a tap right outside to rinse your feet, so sand doesn't get tracked in. The room was tidy and cozy, couple-friendly, and had a big mirror, clean bathroom, toiletries, hot and cold water, AC, wardrobe, cool lights, blankets, towels, and a mosquito net. We got an early check-in at Om Shanti Beach Resort, Patnem last Sunday, even though check-in starts after 2, and they didn't charge extra. A really nice gesture. Food was fresh, hot, and cooked to order, with a good Indian and Western mix, and it came quickly. The staff were super friendly, especially Raj, who was always smiling and helpful. The shacks were neat, the vibe was great, and they had good alcohol and dogs, including a cute one named Ginger. We paid ₹1500-1800 for two people in a garden room, which felt very reasonable for the location and service. I stayed nearly a week, and it was peaceful and cozy, a good place to work or relax. You're right on the beach, about 100 steps from the white sand. Worth the hype, and I'd definitely come back.

The rooms were in poor condition, very basic, and didn't look like the photos on the hotel's site. I was really disappointed by what I saw and by the service. Our room wasn't clean, and there was a lizard in it. I'd tell people not to book directly based on the online pictures. It's also very far from North Goa, so I can't recommend this hotel.

I've been returning to Om Shanti for ten years, and it's often already full when I try to book. That says a lot about how loved it is. The food is reliably good, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the sea-view cottages are special. Waking up to that view never gets old. Nanoo, the owner, is warm, grounded, and genuinely caring. The staff are attentive and well trained, welcoming without hovering. It still has an authentic, old-school Goan feel that's getting rare, rather than feeling commercialized. The layout and location are a big part of the appeal. It's in the center of Patnem Beach but still open and peaceful. From the raised deck you get an uninterrupted panoramic sea view, without umbrellas and structures blocking it. You can see the ocean and feel the breeze, right there with the beach. I'm sharing this because I appreciate the place, nobody asked me to write it. After all these years, Om Shanti feels like more than somewhere to stay: calm, genuine, and rooted in Patnem. A home by the sea for anyone looking for peace and authenticity.
