Having a kitchen was handy, and the owner also offers rooms for longer stays. Our room at Alfonso was airy, spacious, and very clean, with a lovely balcony. Ubaldin was so welcoming and sweet, and even surprised us with Christmas sweets. It felt like a comfortable home away from home. We had a really great stay and would highly recommend it.

The kitchen was a nice extra for us as novice explorers, and the laundry was affordable. The rooms were tidy, too. Hospitality felt very homely. If you're visiting Canacona for some peace and quiet, I'd recommend staying here without hesitation.

The doors have an awkward locking setup: locked from outside, your friend can't get out, and locked from inside, the person outside can't open it. A more modern lock would help in rooms shared by several people. Aside from that, the guest house was tidy, quiet at night, and well placed for where we spent our time, including the beach, toga shalas, and restaurants. The host was nice, and I'd like to return to Agonda and stay at Ubaldina’s if there's a room.

Fontainhas is a great base, with the main attractions an easy walk away. We also enjoyed breakfast on the rooftop and hope to come back in spring. The house is beautiful, restored with lots of detail, and has classic Goan shell windows instead of glass. The owners were very kind and helpful. There's a lovely hidden garden on the roof where you can sit and have coffee.
