Riya Cottages and Beach Huts

The family running the place are friendly and helpful, and the huts and grounds stay remarkably clean, with the ladies regularly sweeping around. We first came in November 2023 and returned in November 2025. The huts sit centrally on the beach, with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Inside, there are comfortable beds, effective air conditioning, good mosquito nets, a fridge, wardrobe, and a very good hot shower. They leave a bottle of water each day and can provide a kettle if you ask.

These rustic huts are by Agonda beach, toward the quieter north end. The cheerful, friendly staff take good care of the place.

It's run by a local Goan family, which is the best part for me. We've been coming to visit them since 2014.

I feel completely safe here as a woman travelling alone, and after a week I already feel at home, with three more weeks to go. The family who run Sami Beach Huts are lovely and always willing to help. The rooms are spotless and cleaned regularly, with everything needed for a relaxed holiday. It's great value, as long as you leave luxury expectations at home and settle into the laid-back pace. The wooden hut is quaint and right on the beach. The bed is very comfortable, and having a fridge in the room is really handy. I've stayed in plenty of places in agonda over the years, but this place is a hidden gem. I've already booked for next year before posting this!
