Mystic Pangong

We were right across from Pangong lake, and it took hardly 2-3 mins to walk to the shore. The food felt thoughtful and homely. It was very cold, and although there were no heaters, the hot water bags helped a lot. On a sunny day you can get hot water from the taps via solar water heaters. Otherwise, they’ll arrange hot water for you. Pangong is extremely remote, and providing accommodation there is a task in itself. You can’t expect luxury in this area, so be ready for harsh, windy chills. I’d recommend body heat warmers wherever you stay around here. Breakfast was homely and thoughtful too, prepared as requested.

Our stay at Mystic Pangong Hotel, Ladakh on 7th May 2026 was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable. It was around -7°C outside, so the lack of basic facilities was a serious problem. The generator wasn’t working, leaving us without electricity all night, and nobody from management seemed bothered. The room heater only worked for about an hour. When we asked staff for more wood or any other help, they weren’t cooperative. There wasn’t even hot water from the tap in the morning, which was frustrating in freezing weather. Only two people were handling the whole hotel, from cooking to rooms and service, and everything was badly managed. Nobody helped with our luggage, the food was very poor, and the staff’s behavior and way of speaking were unacceptable. Anyone traveling to Ladakh, especially with family, should think carefully before booking if they expect basic comfort, service, and hospitality.

The rooms are good and clean, and Stanzin was kind. The village currently has no power supply, so everything runs on solar. They provide hot water, a hot water bag, and an extra blanket.

The location was a highlight: it’s just a 2-minute walk to the lake, and you can see it from the room. Waking up to that view was lovely. The place is quiet and good for a relaxing break, and I had a fantastic stay. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with a smile. The room was good and functional, with what I needed for comfort. Hot water worked very well, and the traditional heater kept it warm on colder nights. They also gave us a hot water bag for sleeping and a warm blanket for extra comfort. The food was delicious, with generous servings at a friendly price. One fried rice portion was enough for two, so take care not to order too much. Great value for money. I’d happily come back.
