Hotel Grand Mumtaz Towers

We ordered two pulaos, but after another long wait only one arrived. When we flagged the mistake, the staff seemed indifferent and took a while to acknowledge it. We'd already waited 1.5 hours just to be served after being told the delay would be short. Service was very slow, and staff didn't seem to communicate well. The food couldn't make up for the frustration, and our time felt wasted. I had high hopes for Mumtaz, but with the long waits, poor service, and order errors, I can't recommend it. There are better places nearby for food and service.

There's no hot water, no room service, and no responsible person around. The room isn't cleaned regularly. The room size and location are good, though, right in the marketplace.

The rooms are very neat and clean, and breakfast is good quality North Indian vegetarian food. The hotel is on the road in the city center at Jehangir Chowk, with free parking in the basement. A lift goes up to the hotel on the third floor, above a small mall with restaurants and shops. They don't pressure you to take their cab packages for a Srinagar trip. I only disliked that Wi-Fi shuts off after 11 PM and the AC sometimes doesn't work.

I stayed for two weeks, and getting breakfast or dinner, which was included, often meant asking several times. Sometimes the food never arrived at all. Service wasn't timely, and there was no one at the front desk to help. Room cleaning only happened when requested, the sheets were never changed, and toiletries weren't replaced. The restaurant number doesn't work, and front desk and service staff couldn't understand simple requests.
