Island Hotel

The hostel felt cozy and comfortable, and its facilities were well maintained. The owner and their family made the atmosphere especially welcoming and treated me like one of their own. Their help began even before I arrived: they supported me with my itinerary, taking my schedule into account and offering valuable suggestions. Their local knowledge and genuine care made the trip memorable. If you want comfortable accommodation with a family-like welcome, I can't recommend this hostel enough. Thank you to the owner and family for their warm hospitality and support throughout my stay.

I felt safe, secure, and cared for as a female solo traveller, which is what made this homestay for me. Abdul and his 3 sons showed immeasurable kindness and genuine hospitality. The breakfast is basic but nice, and so is the price. I’d stay here again, and ask for a few tweaks to my room before arriving. I feel comfortable knowing they’ll accommodate me, since they’re eager and willing to please their guests.

I stayed there for 5 days in July 2023, and it was a nightmare. On the second day, one of the 3 brothers very roughly asked me to cancel my réservation made via booking.com. They skipped the taxes but never gave them back to me, keeping all the profits for themselves. They kept insisting that I buy papier mâché or go to factories. Once, a boat came to take me to a place to buy stuff, but I hadn't asked for that and refused. They got very angry and aggressive with me. The room and bathroom were very poor, never cleaned, and noisy. At the end, one of the brothers asked for a big tip because he had dropped me once a day on the ground and back to the boat for the night. By far my worst expérience in 22 Travels in India. Sorry, but because of these cheeters, Kashmir is a bad memory. Si, don't pay attention to the positive feedbacks, which are as fake as their smile.

One lovely part of the stay was their arrangement for a morning visit to the market at Dal Lake. The view then was truly mesmerizing, a picturesque start to the day. The rooms were decent and budget-friendly, with all the necessary comforts. If you want an affordable stay with great hospitality and stunning views, island hotel is worth considering.
