I first came to Nazneen as a tourist, and the activities made that visit special. An evening shikara ride across the golden lake, a relaxed trip to the floating market with sheekh kabab and hot Kawah, and an early morning ride through Dal’s hidden waterways to the vegetable market were all lovely. Nazneen is well connected to Dal Ghat No. 9 by frequent shikara services in both directions. Mr. Gul was always there with a big smile, whether we had an unusual food request or needed help planning an itinerary, including arranging a car or guide. The houseboat’s interiors are beautifully done, from the chandeliers to the atmospheric room lighting, and it has a character that can suit different kinds of guests. The name Nazneen means “exquisitely beautiful or charming” in Parsi, which feels fitting. I enjoyed my first stay so much that I kept coming back. On my second visit, I was working remotely, and the Wi-Fi worked well. I set up a temporary workstation on the balcony, where the view of Dal kept bringing little surprises, like a shikara full of folk singers, or the soulful Azaan at sunset. Mr. Gul’s hospitality made the visits unique. I’d recommend this houseboat for solo, family, or group trips, with something good in store for everyone.

We spent 3 nights and 4 days here, and every moment was wonderful. The rooms, washrooms, and dining area were all neat and clean. Omar and Gul bhai added a personal touch that made the trip memorable, and I’ll definitely come back soon. The 'najneen group of houseboat' has such a cozy, homely atmosphere, a lovely host, and sumptuous food. Its beauty is hard to put into words. If you want a good stay and hospitality in Srinagar, I must recommend it.

After we arrived, the owner allegedly backed out of promises made on the phone. I found him extremely arrogant, rude, and a complete liar. There were charges for things I hadn’t expected, even a table and plate. The food menu was 5 times more expensive than a decent restaurant in Srinagar, and I considered that daylight robbery. We weren’t given a heater or electric blanket despite this being clearly mentioned earlier, and the lack of proper electricity in the morning made the stay very uncomfortable. The owner first said shikara pickup and drop-off would be free, then after check-in asked for ₹100 PER RIDE, even for basic trips out to get breakfast or dinner. I understand houseboats on Dal Lake provide free shikara rides for guests staying without meals so they can go out to eat. It felt like we were trapped in the middle of the lake after arriving, with no choice but to pay. The experience left me feeling that there were lies, hidden costs, and manipulation throughout. If you value honesty, comfort, or basic respect, do not stay here. There are hundreds of better houseboats on Dal Lake. This one seemed interested only in squeezing money from guests.
