New Buckingham Palace

The view across the lake is gorgeous, especially at night when the transparent lights around the houseboat glow on the water. From the New Buckingham Palace Heritage Houseboat, we had a 180-degree view of the lake, and the peaceful atmosphere was a lovely change during our Srinagar trip. I also liked the unusual bed and chair designs, which show off the heritage craftsmanship. Hot and cold AC kept things comfortable whatever the outside temperature was. Captain Hameed, the owner, and the staff were welcoming and attentive throughout. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Srinagar and want traditional Kashmiri charm with modern comfort.

The calm view of Nigeen Lake from the suite is something I won’t forget. Even in December, the heating kept the room warm and cozy. Captain Hameed and Khalid were gracious hosts and looked after what we needed. I loved the suite’s decoration, especially the carved walnut table. The décor throughout felt warm and elegant, and it suited the houseboat’s character. A peaceful, memorable place to stay in Srinagar, and I’d recommend it.

The room had books, photos, and even a buffalo horn as decoration, and the washroom had everything we needed. We’d booked a Deluxe room, but Captain Hameed gave us a suite with a balcony. The New Buckingham house boat is on nigeen lake, in a peaceful spot away from the crowds at dal lake. Captain Hameed and his team were professional, cordial, and very attentive. The heater AC worked even during power issues, and our caretaker was a humble, good guy. Loved the stay. The experience and service were 100/100.

When we got sick from an earlier part of our trip, the owner, Captain, and caretaker checked on us, helped make sure we had our medicines, and cared about our recovery. That kind of attention made our stay at this houseboat the highlight of our Kashmir trip. They made us comfortable and treated us like family, not just guests. If you want a homey, authentic stay on the Dal Lake, I can’t recommend them highly enough.
