I had lunch at Meghdoot’s ground-floor restaurant, which is open to everyone. I ordered aloo posta, mixed dal, and roti, and it was delicious. The menu is extensive, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian, Continental, and Indian-Chinese dishes. The dining room is spacious and old-fashioned, with a washroom too. The building looks like a British colonial hill-station house and is lovely to see.

Evenings at Meghdoot were a treat, with golden sunsets behind the hills and hot tea in hand. Waking up to snow-covered peaks and crisp mountain air was pure bliss, and the mountain views made it easy to relax. It’s a calm, scenic spot where you can disconnect and recharge. I left feeling refreshed and eager to return. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well kept, with big windows opening onto panoramic views. Staff were warm and attentive, making me feel at home without hovering. The stay was comfortable throughout. Meghdoot is 1 km from the famous Chaubatia Apple Garden and the historic Jhula Devi Temple, and 2 km from the main Sadar Bazaar. It’s convenient for exploring Ranikhet while still being far enough from the city crowd for quiet and peace.
