The Bel Mount

I came for lunch today and took a seat on the terrace. The view was lovely while I waited for friends, so I ordered a drink, but it was a small serving for the price and didn’t taste very good. When my friends arrived and we were checking the menu, someone, I assume from the hotel, emptied urine or toilet water outside. It ran right in front of where we were sitting and smelled awful, so we moved indoors and tried to sit well away from it. The unisex bathroom also smelled really bad, and by then I’d lost my appetite. I only ordered a smoothie, which was good, but the bill was over 800 rupees. I didn’t feel I got my money’s worth and left feeling sick to my stomach, hoping dinner somewhere else would be better. I wouldn’t recommend it.

With spacious rooms, all the amenities provided, and ample parking, this is good value for the economical price. It’s an unusual find on the Kempty Falls road from Massoorie, right on the main road opposite the Kempty Falls view, so it’s easy to find. Highly recommended.

The staff were polite, the stay was comfortable, and everything else was good. It was a pleasant experience overall.

The room was large, clean, and offered to us at a good price. It had a nice bathroom, a big balcony where we took plenty of view photos, a coffee maker, free toiletries, and bottled water. The WiFi and air conditioning both worked well. The group of friends running the hotel were polite and friendly, and the staff were quick to help. Food was tasty, including fresh roti, and payment by cash or phone was possible. The hotel is somewhat wheelchair accessible. Bel Mount is newly built on a steep hill, with a road on the other side, and has a fantastic view of Kempty Falls and the mountains. There are two main buildings, one for the kitchen and dining and one for rooms and reception, with a large parking lot in between. It made for a comfortable and memorable stay.
