For a short stop in Trivandrum, Uday Suite Hotel is handy, especially if you're flying from the domestic terminal at TRV, about a 5-7 minute drive away. It's an old, grand property with potential, and I would stay again for a layover, though the rooms and pool area need upgrades. The rooms are spacious, with lovely balconies, but they feel dated. The toilets and showers need work, and the A/C is loud even on its lowest fan setting. The pool is a rare feature nearby, but there are only about six heavy wooden loungers for a 55-room hotel. Many are partly broken and hard to move. The pool bar is closed, some interior tiles are cracked, and one nearly cut my foot, with no sign warning about them. The grounds could use a restyle. The restaurant and room service serve nice food, and the staff are attentive. They understand English, though communication sometimes falls short in practice. The managers are approachable and focused on guests. One found our luggage, which had been sent to the wrong hotel, within 30 minutes, then drove us to the airport. My hospitality management background made me notice these areas, including ones I've dealt with in past audits and hotel openings.

The buffet was generous and tasty, and I loved the atmosphere and how friendly everyone was. The hotel is within walking distance of the beach and also very close to the airport. Chinju, shweta, Alysha, Mushin, Kannan, shalu, ashwathy, and Aslam all went above and beyond to look after the guests. Even during the hectic holiday rush and long shifts, they were always smiling and ready to help. Reception, kitchen, and housekeeping were all extremely friendly, and the chef and team did a great job. We really appreciate their effort and would definitely come back.

The place has a nice vibe, and it's easy to reach the beach from here. Being close to the airport is handy too. My only issue was the restaurant service: our food took a long time, and even the buttermilk took an hour. Still, it was a good experience overall and worth a while.

For an airport transfer, this hotel is okay. Its best points are how close it is to the airport and Shangumugham Beach. You can also get beer and wine in the restaurant and rooms, unlike at many hotels. The rooms look old inside, and the property doesn't seem well maintained or properly cleaned. Service was very slow. We had breakfast and dinner, and the food was really average, not good. Even at 8.30 am, many breakfast items weren't being refilled regularly.

The rooms are a little dated and could use a refresh, but that's manageable. For the price, this place delivers what it promises. The location is very convenient for domestic flights, with the beach and its attractions nearby, and the main city is still easy to reach. The pool is decent and a nice extra, especially since pools seem to be rare around Trivandrum. Five stars for value, not for luxury.
