Grande Inn

We came from Malaysia for a temple tour in Trichy and stayed one night as a group of three. The room was good and the location convenient. The staff were excellent, especially Karthik, who was reasonable and always ready to help whenever we needed something. Highly recommend.

I stayed from 24/02/2026 around 10.00 pm until 25/02/2026 at 12.00 noon, and paid the full amount at check-in. The staff called on the morning of the 25th to ask about breakfast and prepared it. Before checkout I asked for a water bottle, and the front office lady asked me to pay Rs.20/. I explained that I'd already been given two half-liter bottles the previous night and needed water to drink. They said complimentary water is limited to one liter per day, and I could refill a used bottle with normal water if I wanted more. I'd never had such a bullshit reply. I didn't want to argue, so I finished checkout and left. The bathroom in room No.209 smelled very bad because it had no exhaust system. Think twice before booking here.

The working AC was the one thing that went well. Grande Inn is close to Chatram Bus Stand and Rockfort, but my stay in Tiruchirappalli was very disappointing and the price didn't feel justified. The property seemed old and poorly maintained. The washroom smelled bad, the linens were itchy, the towels were worn, and we even saw cockroaches at night. Hygiene was a serious concern. The reception staff were reluctant to address the problems we reported. There isn't a proper in-house restaurant, the naphthalene room freshener was overpowering, and the steep basement parking was difficult to manage. I wouldn't recommend it.

The room was clean and the AC worked very well. There was an elevator, and staff could help move luggage or bring tea and coffee, though tips were expected. Still, the rooms are quite small for the price, and the soap and shampoo could be better. There's no flexibility with the timing, and there are no ceiling clamps for a cradle, so this won't suit a baby who needs one. We arrived around 10 pm and were told the schedule was strictly 11 to 11. The next day we asked to stay just two extra hours, until 1 pm, but were refused even though the rooms were free. After asking again, they allowed a three-hour extension for an extra 500. Since the rooms were available, I felt an extension based on our late check-in could have been offered without the added charge. We paid over 2000 for a room and the service felt worth about 1000.
