Park Avenue Hotel

The buffet was tasty, with a good selection for foreign visitors wanting to try local food. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the hotel is handy for shopping, though the main road outside makes it noisy. Staff at the counter were efficient, professional, and courteous. Ms Nishanti and Mr Ravannan stood out, as did Vanitha and Ramya in the restaurant, who were so welcoming. Good value and a pleasant stay. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Trichy.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was roomy and very clean, and the reception team and technicians responded quickly. Nishanthi helped us choose the right room for our group of five. Vanitha and Ramya were both kind and helpful, especially Vanitha, who went out of her way to make sure we had what we needed.

The breakfast was delicious with a very nice spread, and the room itself was fine for the two of us for one night. The toilet flush initially failed, but it was fixed quickly. Power cuts and voltage fluctuations overnight disrupted our sleep. Parking in the basement was extremely awkward to get in and out of, especially if you need to drive around Trichy often. We arrived at about 11 AM and asked for an early check-in for health reasons. Although a guest had just checked out, the receptionist was reluctant and eventually said there would be a fee. We thought that was unfair since we planned to leave at 5 AM and miss the included breakfast. After checking with her manager, she removed the fee and we got into the room at 12 PM. Still, the repeated focus on hotel policy made the conversation uncomfortable, with little effort to understand our circumstances. Our plans changed overnight, so we checked out around 8.45 AM rather than 5 AM and ate the complimentary breakfast. When we gave our room number, the manager and staff who greeted us seemed taken aback. They kept talking among themselves and watching us, which made us uneasy. We also saw the manager shout at an employee. That could have been handled privately and more respectfully, and it left us with a poor impression of management. At checkout, the receptionist said we had stayed past the time we had mentioned and taken breakfast, so she would charge the early check-in fee. We were prepared to pay and were fine with that, but the way she put it felt unreasonable and unfriendly. We've never had this kind of experience on our travels in India or abroad. The whole stay felt transactional rather than guest-focused, and we won't return.

The location is the hotel's strongest point. Otherwise, there wasn't anything especially impressive, though nothing was terribly wrong either. The basement parking is tight and awkward, and the room layout felt strange, from the windows and mirrors to the bed and even the dustbin. We were three people staying for three days. Breakfast ran from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM, but there was no lunch or dinner room service. Staff said it could be because of an ongoing gas crisis, but that's not what I'd expect from a 3-star hotel. The place has the basics, yet the staff were much more rigid than at their Bangalore property. I've stayed at all three Park Avenue hotels in Bangalore, Chennai & Trichy, so the difference stood out. I'm not from Trichy, and even though we speak Tamil, the staff made us feel unwelcome. Nothing directly offensive happened. The biggest issue was Mr. Vignesh refusing a simple two-hour extension on a Monday morning, despite our three-day stay and my explaining that my flight had been delayed by three hours. Awesome hospitality 👌 I wouldn't stay here again. Maybe it's a last decent option in Trichy.
