Chandra Prakash Hotel

The outside didn't make a great first impression, but the hotel turned out to be good. Food, service, assistance, and hospitality were all great, and the room and washroom were clean and hygienic. The one issue was hot water: there's a shared solar heater rather than individual heaters in the rooms, so we had no warm water in the washroom.

The rooftop dining area has a lovely view across the city, and there’s a pool too. It’s within walking distance of the City Palace, which makes it a convenient place to stay. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff were okay.

The property itself is quite good, with well-kept rooms, and the location is decent. But there was a dispute between the hotel and OYO over the app price, and the staff took it out on us. When we arrived, they said we’d paid too little and refused to provide service. Our package included breakfast, but they wouldn’t give it to us and told us to take it up with OYO. OYO took ages to respond, showed little ownership, and never resolved the issue. That was the worst part. The breakfast was only basic, with Paratha and Poha and nothing else, yet they still wanted 250 bucks per person.

We picked this place because it was economical, felt safe, and had cordial staff, with a parking spot for my friend’s bike. Being near the city center made it easy to return to the room late, freshen up, rest, and head back out to see more of Udaipur. Getting around by bike worked well on the narrow roads. The hotel has room service and a restaurant, though we didn’t use either. It was a good experience overall, but a few small changes would make the stay more comfortable.
