goStops Udaipur (Stops Hostel Udaipur)

The location worked really well, very close to Lake Pichola. I booked a private room, which was clean, and the staff were good. Saleem at reception was warm-hearted and treated us very well. Check-in went smoothly, and the service from gostops was great. I'd book here again without hesitation.

The convenient location and budget-friendly stay made this a great choice. Rooms were clean, everyone on staff was friendly, and the place had a relaxed, positive feel. Shankar at reception was especially helpful and polite, and made things more comfortable for me. One of the best Gostop hostels I've stayed at, and I'd happily recommend it.

Even after checkout, they let me leave my luggage there, which was a huge help. I arrived at 1 am the next day because of travel problems, and the team was flexible about check-in. Sahil, the caretaker/manager, stayed up to get me settled and was really easygoing. The cafeteria was open at 2 am, and the food was great. I also enjoyed the ambiance, room, and staff. Amazing stay, and I'll definitely come back.

There's potential here, and this is feedback from someone who wants the place to improve. The dorm blankets need attention: they felt like the ones on a cheap AC bus, with no cover, questionable hygiene, and no indication of when they'd last been washed. I wondered whether guests were unknowingly sharing the same blanket life cycle. The food tastes good, but it seems like around 90% is frozen, sealed, or partly cooked before being reheated. For travelers, backpackers, and long-stay guests, health matters too. Fresh choices shouldn't feel like a luxury at these prices. Guests are paying the ₹500-₹600 being asked, and hostels offer better basics at the same or even lower prices. What other, more expensive places get away with doesn't change what's needed here. The front desk also felt like hospitality on low battery mode. Staff looked exhausted, and check-in came across like visiting a government office. I know hostel work is demanding, but a welcoming smile matters. Better staffing, breaks, or morale support could help. Bharat was helpful and humble. If these basics keep getting overlooked, GoStops risks relying on its branding instead of giving guests a better experience.
