The lake view is fantastic, but the room's condition and upkeep are far below basic expectations. It feels as if guests are paying premium prices for the view while the room quality falls short. I'm staying at Hilltop Palace now for the next 3 days, and I sincerely hope management takes this seriously and addresses the problems immediately. With such a great location and lake view, the rooms shouldn't be so poorly maintained. We booked Deluxe Lake Facing Room (Room 414) and paid extra expecting a premium stay. Apart from the view, almost everything has disappointed us. For a hotel marketed as a premium lake-facing property, the hygiene and maintenance are shockingly poor. The pillow covers and towels have visible stains, which is unacceptable at these prices. The washroom is the worst part. It's very old, badly maintained, and gives an unhygienic impression. The toilet seat looks outdated and dirty, the mirror is stained, and the old tiles are grimy. The bathroom feels more like one in a decades-old budget lodge than a “Deluxe” room. Honestly, the washroom in my own home is in far better condition. Booking platform photos show modern, clean, well-maintained washrooms, nothing like what we're actually being given. That big difference between the advertised room and the reality feels misleading and unfair to guests paying a premium for a certain standard.

The views are the highlight at Hilltop Palace Hotel Udaipur. From this one of the highest points around the lake, there's a stunning panorama of Fateh Sagar Lake and the whole Udaipur city. The lake-view rooms make it even more special, with a truly excellent view from the room. It's near Fateh Sagar Lake and easy to find. I had a great stay and enjoyed one of Udaipur's best viewpoints. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had a good experience here on our first visit, even though we usually prefer lakeside stays. We came at the end of June, and the rain made the atmosphere especially pleasant. The poolside area was decent but felt average compared with other hotels. Outside, the seating was very nice and had a great view of Fateh Sagar. On the first day, no rooms were available, so we stayed in a deluxe non-lake-facing room. It felt small and a bit cramped, but it was clean, had a balcony, and the washroom was clean too. For the next stay, we got a deluxe lake-facing room and enjoyed it much more. It was very spacious, and Fateh Sagar was visible directly from the bed. The balcony was large and had seating. We could also see Monsoon Palace from the room. We had dinner at the in-house restaurant, and the food tasted good, though the prices seemed a bit high. The buffet breakfast in the morning had a variety of good-tasting options. Fateh Sagar is very close, and other places are nearby too, but without taking an auto, you'll have to walk to the main road.

The lobby and garden overlooking the lake were a standout, with a great spot to relax and take pictures. Breakfast is a must, with a good spread and a peaceful start to the day. In the evening, the rooftop dining area and bar double as a sunset point, making it a lovely place to be. At Hilltop Palace, the rooms feel spacious and aesthetic, and a lake-facing balcony is worth opting for. Those rooms are premium, so it's best to book at least a month ahead. The hotel has sufficient car parking, and most major tourist attractions are nearby, which makes sightseeing convenient. A relaxing, comfortable stay with views and classic Udaipur charm.

We enjoyed our stay. The reception and garden are beautiful, the rooms are spacious, and the lake view is lovely. The food was delicious too, a very good experience overall.
